How Much Does an Eye Exam Cost?
19 Years and Younger
If you are 19 years and younger OHIP covers the cost of one major eye exam (for vision and general eye health) every 12 months, plus any minor assessments you might need.
65 Years and Older
If you are 65 years and older OHIP covers the cost of one major eye exam (for vision and general eye health) every 12 months, plus any minor assessments you need.
Between 20 and 64 Years with Certain Medical Conditions
If you have certain medical conditions that affect your eyes such as diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disease, etc. OHIP will cover a major eye exam for you once every 12 months and any follow-up appointments related to the condition.
If you are on the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) or Ontario Works, you may be eligible for additional eye care.
Between 20 and 64 Years
If you are between the ages of 20 and 64 and you don't have a medical condition that affects your eyes, your full, comprehensive eye exam will cost only $80 at Highland Optical.
We Offer Direct Billing!
We will direct bill to most insurance companies for you. We are not able to determine how much coverage you have though; you will need to find that out before you have your eye exam or purchase new glasses.
